Qualification For SSI: 

SSI is designed for people who are disable, blind, suffering from life threating condition or is over 65 year. If all your income resources worth more than $2000 for an individual and $3000 for a couple then you’ll be considered to be as ineligible. 

Qualification For SSDI: 

SSDI doesn't consider non-disabled senior citizens. This group will qualify for Social Security retirement benefits on their work record. Documenting a disability, and an evaluation of your work history are the two main steps for SSDI. For verification purposes medical evidence that proves that disability of a person lasts for at least one year or sometimes results in death are considered to be best proof.
